Wildlife Jewels’ 2025 Newport Beach World Wildlife Day Celebration at the Newport Beach Civic Center features community painting, planting, art exhibitions and educational programming

A featured experience is Paint the Jewels of the World, Wildlife Jewels’ collaborative community painting activity, where participants of all ages paint wildlife line art together while learning about the species and conservation stories behind the artwork. No prior art experience is required.

Additional highlights include wildlife-inspired art and fashion exhibits, Plant for Hummingbird native pollinator planting, short educational wildlife talks, outreach tables hosted by local conservation organizations and Wildlife Rescue Kit Stations, where volunteers help assemble simple kits supporting local wildlife rescue efforts.

“I founded Wildlife Jewels because I believe wildlife are more precious than jewels,” said Azi Sharif, Ph.D., founder and executive director of Wildlife Jewels. “Newport Beach is a home for incredible wildlife – from brown pelicans and Anna’s hummingbirds to monarch butterflies and sea lions. This celebration brings our community together through the arts and learning, and empowers people of all ages to take impactful actions that help wildlife and the habitats they depend on.”

A special monarch butterfly spotlight will highlight the importance of pollinators and native, pollinator-friendly habitats. The program aligns with the UN World Wildlife Day theme emphasizing the importance of plants to life on Earth, focusing on native plants, pollinators, coastal wildlife and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

The event is free and there is free onsite parking, and all ages are welcome.

Wildlife Jewels is a Newport Beach-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting wildlife from human-caused threats through a fusion of the arts, science, technology and community engagement.
