District needs your help with 10-minute online survey

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) would like to hear your voice, so consider taking this 10-minute online survey.

Here’s why:

–Parent/guardian feedback is important for the district to plan programs for children’s success.

–Every year, schools set a goal for survey participation. Your response will help your school meet its goal.

The survey will be open through February 9, 2024.

As a note, all school districts in California must develop an annual plan, called the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The plan describes the district’s goals, specific actions, and planned funding designed to support, in this case, NMUSD’s mission, which is “To graduate students who have acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to achieve significant career, educational, civic and personal goals that will enrich our society.”

Thanks for your participation.

News and notes from our colleges and universities

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Newport Beach resident Mo Nguyen, a member of the class of 2025 majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Engineering, was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2023 semester.

A total of 2,299 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI’s fall 2023 Dean’s List. The criteria for the WPI Dean’s List differs from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean’s List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

WPI, a global leader in project-based learning, is a distinctive, top-tier technological university founded in 1865 on the principle that students learn most effectively by applying the theory learned in the classroom to the practice of solving real-world problems.
