Four suspects arrested in late-night commercial burglary of Newport Center Drive location under construction

Four suspects were arrested early Saturday morning (April 13) on suspicion of commercial burglary with forced entry and trespassing by occupying property without consent.

Newport Beach Police received a call to the dispatch center shortly before midnight from a security company in the area of the 1100 block of Newport Center Drive stating that two subjects had reportedly entered the location which was under construction by forcing entry through secured doors.

Officers arrived on scene as two subjects were leaving the area. They then established a perimeter and located two more suspects.

According to an NBPD spokesperson, arrested were Yanessa Marie Moreno, 18, Coto de Caza; Sofia Paola Morgante, 19, Dana Point; Steven Romeo Masler, 19, Ladera Ranch; and Garrett Jeffrey Trice, 19, Ladera Ranch.

Bail was set at $20,000 each.

There was no loss reported.

Early-morning vehicle crash closes Irvine Avenue area yesterday

There was an accident involving two vehicles at Irvine Avenue and Francisco Drive at 6:35 a.m. yesterday morning, April 15. Each vehicle had a single occupant, both females with age unknown, who were reportedly transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

All directions of traffic were closed until 8:18 a.m. A sig alert, Newport Notified alert, and an X post were sent out regarding the road closure and the subsequent re-opening.
