Pet of the Week

Stu News Newport is delighted to be working with the Newport Beach Animal Shelter to help get the word out in search of loving homes for pets that deserve a warm, nurturing environment and a place to call “home.”

The shelter is excited to announce Meatball, a 4-year-old-bulldog, is now available for adoption.

Meet Meatball

Meatball weighs approximately 75 pounds and has come a long way since arriving at the shelter in rough shape. With the support of shelter staff, veterinarians, trainers, the Friends of Newport Beach Animal Shelter (FONBAS) and generous donors, Meatball received soft palate surgery to help him breathe more comfortably. He may never be your running partner, but he is feeling much better and ready to find a home of his own. Like many bulldogs, Meatball has some ongoing medical needs. He has allergies that are managed with medication and also has dry eyes that require continued care. His future adopter should be prepared to work with a veterinarian to maintain his treatment and keep him comfortable.

Meatball would do best with an adopter who understands the stubborn and strong-willed nature of bulldogs, and is committed to continuing his training and providing consistent boundaries. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Those interested in adopting Meatball can learn more about the adoption process at www.nba.gov/animalshelter, or email animalshelter@newportbeachca.gov to schedule a meet and greet, or call 949.718.3454.

The animal shelter is located at 20282 Riverside Drive and is open daily from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
