Newport Harbor Lawn Bowling Club holds first of two Open Houses

On Saturday, May 11, the Newport Harbor Lawn Bowling Club (NHLBC) held the first of two Open Houses.

Attendees from throughout the area came to learn of the amazing and fun sport of lawn bowling. Lunch was provided with help from Domino’s Pizza on East Coast Highway.

The NHLB Clubhouse. Posted around the club are 23 state flags, each home to at least one lawn bowling club across America.

According to Club President Greg Alexander, almost 50% of those who came joined the club. The NHLBC is the best bargain in town, with the Open House special of $200 for the entire year.

After checking in, each guest was provided a set of four bowls and helpful, free instruction. Attendees enjoyed a great lunch from Domino’s Pizza.

The second Open House will be held this Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Come by and see what lawn bowling is all about.

The NHLBC was established in 1939, originally next to the American Legion on the peninsula. Fifty years ago, they moved to their current location at the corner of San Joaquin Hills Road and Crown Drive in Corona del Mar. It is a 100% volunteer-run organization and a proud member of the Newport Beach community.
