In partnership with the Newport Beach Fire Safe Council, the Newport Coast Community Association is leading local efforts to educate residents and prepare for the upcoming wildfire season.

As part of this national campaign, communities nationwide are coming together to raise awareness and take proactive measures to safeguard homes and families against wildfires. Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is a campaign that encourages people and organizations everywhere to come together on a single day to take action to raise awareness and reduce wildfire risks

“We’re proud to join forces with the Newport Beach Fire Safe Council to participate in this national initiative,” said Gerald Klein, board member of the Newport Coast Community Association. “By working together as a community, we can make a real difference in protecting our homes and loved ones.”

Wildfire Community Preparedness Day aims to educate residents about wildfire prevention and provide practical tips on preparing homes for the fire season. Simple actions to defend the Home Ignition Zone (HIZ), such as cleaning roofs and gutters, installing metal mesh screening over vents, and clearing vegetation around homes, can significantly increase property resilience.

To raise awareness and encourage participation, the Newport Coast Community Association will launch an email campaign and spread the word through various channels. Residents can also find more information about wildfire prevention and steps by clicking here.
