NBPD lieutenant receives city’s Dorothy Palen Employee of the Year Award

This week, Newport Beach Police Lieutenant Gary Clemente was awarded the 2024 Dorothy Palen Employee of the Year Award for the City of Newport Beach.

According to the NBPD, “Lieutenant Clemente’s dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on (the) department and community. His unwavering commitment to excellence sets a standard for all. Congratulations, Lt. Clemente, on this well-deserved recognition!”

The award is named after former Newport Beach City employee Dorothy Louise Palen, whose 47-year career saw her thrive in the city’s finance department.

Palen retired from the city in 1993. The award recognizes excellence in the job exemplifying the characteristics of Palen – Cooperation, Dependability, Integrity and Judgment.
