Local 8th graders to host Sidewalk Art Sale benefiting Assistance League of Newport-Mesa on June 26

Assistance League of Newport-Mesa was founded as a chartered chapter of National Assistance League in 1940. In 1962, the chapter’s Assisteens Auxiliary was formed, adding young adults from 7th through 12th grade to their volunteer ranks. Today, with close to 400 members, the organization continues to support children and families throughout the Newport-Mesa community with the mission of transforming lives and strengthening community.

The Sidewalk Art Sale will feature a varied collection of beautiful artwork that was received by donors, consignors, as well as from local estate sales. The collection of artwork has something for everyone at great prices. The proceeds from this event will go toward funding Assistance League of Newport-Mesa’s philanthropic programs.

Assistance League of Newport-Mesa has been serving our community for 84 years

Assisteen volunteers will earn community service hours for overseeing the sale, including setting up and displaying the artwork that will be sold. They will gain experience interacting with customers, working a cash register, packaging the artwork and helping to carry purchases to customers’ cars. The Art Sale will provide an opportunity for local 8th graders to participate directly in raising money for the Assistance League’s philanthropic programs.

The Assistance League of Newport-Mesa’s major philanthropic programs include Operation School Bell, The Cheri Harris Dental Center and the organization’s Scholarship Program. Proceeds from the Thrift Store and Consignment Shop, fundraising events, grants and endowments provide the major financial support for the group’s philanthropic programs.
