JWA shows 4.2% decrease in year-over-year passenger traffic for August 2026
Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport (JWA) decreased in August 2026 as compared to August 2025. This year, the airport served 991,015 passengers, a decrease of 4.2% when compared to the August 2025 passenger traffic count of 1,034,529.
Commercial aircraft operations in August 2026 of 8,168 increased 0.3% and commuter aircraft operations of 835 increased 12.2% when compared with 2025 levels.

Total aircraft operations decreased in August 2026 as compared with the same month in 2025. In August 2026, there were 26,233 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), an 8.5% decrease compared to 28,670 total aircraft operations in August 2025.
General aviation activity of 17,222 accounted for 66.0% of the total aircraft operations during August 2026 and decreased 12.9% when compared with August 2025.
The top three airlines in August 2026, based on passenger count, were Southwest Airlines (267,105), United Airlines (168,697) and American Airlines (164,639).
