A burglary hits home in Newport Ridge

A residential burglary occurred in the Newport Ridge community on Sea Terrace sometime between 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 28 and 9:20 p.m. on Friday, July 29.

While the victims were away, an unknown suspect accessed the backyard and used patio furniture and/or a trash can to climb to the second story balcony. On the balcony, the suspect shattered a glass door leading to the master bedroom where the master bedroom, closet and bathroom were ransacked. 

The suspect also rummaged through various drawers in the kitchen, office and two other bedrooms before fleeing the scene. 

The loss is unknown and there was no suspect information available.

Suspect enters dark Mariners home to burglarize and encounters female at home

A residential burglary occurred in the Mariners community in the 1100 block of Devon Lane around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1.

While the victim was in her bedroom with the lights off, an unknown suspect located an unsecured window and removed the screen. The suspect then opened the window to climb inside the home. 

Once inside, the suspect ransacked the hallway, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The suspect then opened the victim’s bedroom door and fled immediately upon discovering the victim was at home. 

She called the Newport Beach Police Department immediately, but no suspect was located in the area when officers arrived. 

The loss was unknown and no suspect information was available.
