Locals march to support our Newport Beach Police Department

On Monday, Sept. 14, approximately 100 locals marched from Newport Center to the Police Station on Santa Barbara Drive to show their thanks and support for our local men and women who comprise our diligent police personnel. They walked single file adhering to six feet physical distancing while donning face coverings.

“Support Our Police Silent Walk” was spearheaded by Corona del Mar resident Sandra King, who organized the event. Adding to the engagement were drummers who played a jazzed-up percussion cadence.

“Our flags and signs tell the story – we don’t need to scream or chant...this was an orderly, socially distancing walk,” said King. “To be clear, this walk was not political, but rather a statement that we appreciate the service the Police provide and understand that they risk their lives to protect us.”
