WWII-era aircraft flypast on Memorial Day pays tribute to veterans, healthcare workers

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, WWII-era airplanes took to the skies above Southern California’s national cemeteries and hospitals to honor veterans and healthcare frontline workers.

Flying over Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary, WWII planes fill the skies

The event, coined “Operation SoCal Strong,” began around noon at Loma Linda Medical Center, flying over John Wayne Airport, Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary in Corona del Mar and Newport Beach a short time after 12:30 p.m. The flypast culminated with a landing at Chino Municipal Airport shortly after 1 p.m.
