CdM High School principal announces retirement

Kathy Scott, principal of Corona del Mar High School, has announced her retirement effective July 1. Scott leaves the school after seven years at the helm.

In a letter to the Sea King families, Scott said, “We have experienced many challenges, deep sorrows, and great successes together. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have walked beside you through all of it. I leave the Corona del Mar community with so many fond memories, a sense of pride in what we have accomplished together, and a great deal of confidence that CdM High School will move steadily forward, continuing to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for all of our families.”

Scott cites her reasons for leaving to her home state of Texas as an opportunity to spend more time with family and grandchildren.

The Newport-Mesa School District is planning a “thought exchange” to gather input from the community as to what they’re looking for in their next principal.
