City of Newport Beach to hold mental health forum on January 29

On Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m., the City of Newport Beach is presenting “The Mental Health Forum” in the Civic Center Community Room.

Mental illness can affect anyone. More than 47 million people in the U.S. experienced mental illness in 2018, more than the number of people living with diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer and melanoma – combined.

About one in six people, ages 6-17, experience a mental health disorder each year. More than one in five seniors, ages 55 and older, experience some kind of mental health concern.

The event’s distinguished speakers include: Clayton Chau, M.D., Ph.D., Mind OC & Be Well Orange County; Min Suh, Mind OC & Be Well Orange County; and Heidi Sweeney, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) Orange County.
