CdMHS earns Gold recognition in nationwide AP School Honor Roll

Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) has announced that Corona de Mar High School (CdMHS) earned Gold recognition, listed among the nationwide AP School Honor Roll.

Launched this year by College Board, the organization overseeing the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that are committed to increasing the college-going culture, provide opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximize college readiness.

For a school to be recognized, it must meet the following criteria based on data from the most recent graduating class:

–Forty percent or more of graduating seniors took at least one AP exam during their high school years.

–Twenty-five percent or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam during high school.

–Two percent or more of the cohort took five or more AP exams during high school, with at least one of those exams taken in ninth or 10th grade.

In the 2022-2023 school year, 719 CdM students took 1,552 AP exams.

This is a new awards program that recognizes schools that are increasing participation in AP programs and college preparedness.
