Hoffman named as general manager to open Pendry Newport Beach 

Pendry Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of David Hoffman as general manager of Pendry Newport Beach, scheduled to open late summer 2023. Hoffman brings more than 30 years of luxury hospitality experience with him, including 20 years at Montage International properties. He will oversee all daily operations of the hotel.

Newport Beach debuts as the third Southern California property in the Pendry Hotels & Resorts portfolio, and the eighth in the overall collection.

Pendry Newport Beach will feature 295 guestrooms, including 82 suites, three signature dining destinations, a world-class Spa Pendry, outdoor pool with sundeck, state-of-the-art fitness center and more than 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The property will also be home to a private membership club.

David Hoffman brings a wealth of luxury resort experience as newly appointed general manager of Pendry Newport Beach

Hoffman, a longtime member of the Montage International family, joined the company in 2003 and is marking his 20th anniversary this year. Most recently, he served as the opening general manager of Pendry West Hollywood, prior to that as the opening general manager at Sagamore Pendry Baltimore, named the #1 Hotel in the United States in the Condé Nast Traveler 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards. 

He’s an experienced steward of ultra-luxury service, also opening several Montage Hotels & Resorts properties including Montage Kapalua Bay, Montage Beverly Hills and Montage Laguna Beach. 

Prior to joining Montage International, Hoffman worked for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts for more than eight years.

The Pendry Newport Beach is located in what will be the completely updated and remodeled property formerly known as the Fashion Island Hotel and prior to that as the Four Seasons Hotel.

The property is part of the local resort portfolio of Newport Beach’s Eagle Four Partners that also includes VEA Newport Beach and the Balboa Bay Resort.
