Alarm alerts CdM resident to possible burglary

A Corona del Mar resident was in another part of their home when the front entry alarm was activated. The victim deactivated the alarm and then heard a noise but was unable to determine the location it came from.

The next day the victim discovered an exterior door lock had been tampered with and notified the Newport Beach Police Department.

The incident took place in the 200 block of Heliotrope Ave. on Sunday, March 2 around 9 p.m.

The resident had no reported loss and there was no suspect information reported.

Burglar enters residence in the middle of the night while residents slept

A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, April 29 in the 100 block of 43rd St. in West Newport. Sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., while the victims slept, an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unknown means (there were no signs of forced entry and a door may have been left unlocked).

Once inside the residence, the suspect removed and consumed food and beverages from the kitchen and took items from the victim’s wallet that was left in one of the common areas. The suspect also removed clothing from the dryer inside the garage.

Reported losses were U.S. currency, credit cards, clothing, food and beverages.

No suspect information was available.

Residence entered after unidentified suspect found hide-a-key

Sometime between 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16 and 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, a residential burglary occurred on the 200 block of Revere Way in the Bayside Village Community.

The victims had been away from home from April 16 through April 20. Then on April 29, the victim found their hide-a-key had been moved and then discovered items were missing from a closet.

Reported losses included U.S. currency, a checkbook, jewelry, a purse and some personal paperwork.

No suspect information was available.
