GritCycle rallies the community in support of Autism Action Month

On April 17, GritCycle held charity rides at its three spin studios (Costa Mesa, Monarch Beach and Long Beach) to benefit TACA (The Autism Community in Action). The day was truly successful with $30,000 being raised, surpassing the expected fundraising goal. The after event was hosted by Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, located in Newport Beach.

In attendance were TACA founder Lisa Ackerman; Autism Action board member notables Manny Khoshbin, Keith Banning, Alexander Taylor and Valentina Khan; and new owners of GritCycle fitness Jon and Gail Gray. The audience was comprised of the Orange County and Long Beach spin community of avid riders, families, small business owners, restaurant owners and partners and autism advocates of TACA.

Rallying during Autism Action Month, the OC fitness community came together with their time, efforts and funding. The goal was not only to bring heightened visibility to the cause, but to take action in standing up for autism acceptance and families coping with this developmental disorder. GritCycle booked more than 550 rides for the cause with $10 for every bike booked benefitting TACA.

GritCycle followed up the rides with an alfresco fundraiser and auction raffle at Bosscat Kitchen & Libations where attendees enjoyed the signature cocktail, “The Philanthropist,” incredible Bosscat fare and customized Miss Mini Donuts with charity logos. Festivities included Ackerman and Jon Gray sharing their personal experiences with autism, and attendees enjoyed bidding on experiences from local sponsors David August Couture, Pelican Hill Resort, Harley Laguna Beach, Arc Restaurant Group, August McGregor, Lululemon, Zo skin and more.
