ENC offers May adventures as well as volunteer opportunities, summer camps
The Environmental Nature Center (ENC) and the ENC Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary have new opportunities each month – something for everyone. If you’re not looking for a structured activity, come join a quiet walk on the trails or bring a sustainably packed picnic. They’re open for everyone on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit https://events.encenter.org to register for a scheduled program.
Here are some upcoming events for May (including a blood drive), in addition to volunteer opportunities and summer camp. Save the Date for their Summer Soiree on June 1.
ENC wants your blood! They are holding a Red Cross Blood drive on Tuesday, May 21 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Museum Building.
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S. Visit the ENC on May 21 to help this worthy cause. They donate the use of their facility for blood drives a couple times of year, and they hope you’ll help as well. Schedule your donation here.

A LIT volunteer is working with a youngster during an ENC craft project
ENC is looking for responsible high school students that love nature and working with children to be a part of the Leader in Training (LIT) program for their upcoming Summer Camps at the ENC in Newport Beach and at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in Modjeska Canyon. What is a Leader in Training? “LITs” are amazing high school students that help with Nature Camps. This is a perfect opportunity for volunteers who enjoy working with children to earn community service hours. Spend time with like-minded peers and gain experience and responsibility supervising young children. It provides an excellent experience to include on a resume or college application. Learn more and apply here.
