Celebrate Independence Day on the Back Bay at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina has announced this year’s Fourth of July holiday celebration filled with activities for the whole family to enjoy. Celebrate Independence Day on the Back Bay with a four-day weekend brimming with activities, from thrilling water sports like the newly expanded Inflatable Aquatic Park to family-friendly Movies on the Beach and lively Tunes at the Dunes entertainment. The festivities include a dazzling fireworks display on the 4th of July, co-sponsored by the City of Newport Beach, which ranks among the largest in Southern California.

The fireworks extravaganza on July 4 begins around 9 p.m.

Kick off the long weekend at Newport Dunes by visiting the large public beach and calm waters of the Newport Back Bay. Get out on the water and experience the Inflatable Aquatic Park with more than 20 oversized inflatables, including a 17-foot slide, jungle gym, monkey bars, bouncers, and a climbing wall.

Explore the waveless bay with watersports rentals including kayaks, pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards, and 21-foot electric Duffy boats. The Inflatable Aquatic Park and watersports activities will be available daily from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. through Labor Day weekend (Inflatable Aquatic Park hours on July 4 are 9:30 a.m-5 p.m.). Experience the Inflatable Aquatic Park

Enjoy free live entertainment from 5-8 p.m. with Tunes at the Dunes featuring The Class (Mix of Genres) on Thursday, July 4, The Kelly Boyz (High-Energy Country Rock) on Friday, July 5 and Cubensis (Grateful Dead Tribute) on Saturday, July 6. Enjoy local food truck cuisine and a full bar.

Tunes at the Dunes

Grab a bite at Newport Dunes’ walk-up bar and grill, Moe B’s Munchies, serving a menu of American favorites and signature cocktails. Stay and experience the magic of outdoor cinema with Movies on the Beach. Enjoy a showing of Sandlot (PG) on Friday, July 5 and Captain America: The First Avenger (PG-13) on Saturday, July 6 at dusk. Enjoy complimentary screenings of family-friendly films every Friday and Saturday night at dusk throughout the summer.

Gates open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, for the Independence Day on the Back Bay celebration. Arrive early to set up beach chairs and umbrellas, and experience all that Newport Dunes has to offer. All the watersports fun continues, and guests can enjoy the views from the beachfront patio at Moe B’s Munchies. Save room for a food truck feast featuring a line-up of the region’s favorite food trucks and a full bar. Get your groove on just steps away with live music at the Horseshoe Stage featuring hip-hop, R&B and disco beats by DJ yo-b1 from 3-5 p.m., and a live performance by The Class playing a mix of genres including oldies, classic rock and top 40 hits from 5-8 p.m. Saunter over to the sand to play lawn games while enjoying the music.

Enjoy a spectacular pyrotechnic fireworks show from the sand after dark

Take a seat on the sand after dark to experience the most spectacular pyrotechnic fireworks show in Orange County, co-sponsored by the City of Newport Beach. Reservations for onsite parking are now available. Each Fourth of July Reserved Parking Pass is valid for one (1) reserved parking space for one (1) vehicle in the main lot. To purchase a parking pass, visit https://bit.ly/IDOTBBNewportDunes. Limited day-of parking will also be available for $50 in a further, unpaved lot at the corner of PCH and North Bayside Drive, based on availability.

Fourth of July Schedule:

Inflatable Aquatic Park & Watersports Rentals

When: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Details: Purchase a pass to the Inflatable Aquatic Park, or rent kayaks, pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards, or a 21-foot electric Duffy boat (seats up to eight people). Advance reservations can be made online and are recommended for all water activities, so visit www.newportdunes.com/watersports/. For the safety of their guests, all water activity in the lagoon must not go past 8 p.m. in order for the fireworks show to commence.

Moe B’s Munchies – Beachfront Grill & Bar

When: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Where: Along the promenade near the market

Details: Fresh-to-order grilled burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, pizza, salads, signature seasoned baked fries, snacks and more. Full bar featuring hand-shaken margaritas, cocktails, wine and beer.

Food Trucks & Full Bars

When: 12-9 p.m.

Where: At the Horseshoe past Pavilion C

Details: Order food from a line-up of Southern California’s top food trucks. A full bar will be available.

Tunes at the Dunes ft. The Class and DJ yo-b1

When: 3-8 p.m.

Where: At the Horseshoe between Pavilion C and the Gazebo

Details: DJ yo-b1 will be spinning hip-hop, R&B and funky beats from 3-5 p.m. The Class will be playing a mix of genres including oldies, classic rock and top 40 hits from 5-8 p.m.

Independence Day on the Back Bay Fireworks Show

When: 9 p.m.

Details: The show is co-sponsored by the City of Newport Beach.
