Caltrans announces scheduled work on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced on Friday (June 21) via email that it would perform scheduled work in Newport Beach at various locations on State Route 1 (SR-1), also known as Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Barring any emergencies (which may include weather), daily closures were scheduled to begin yesterday (Monday, June 24) and will go through Friday, June 28, from 6 a.m.-4 p.m.

According to Caltrans’ release, alternating lanes will be closed at a time. The work will include underground electrical work. Updates will be provided by Caltrans as the work progresses.

Daily closures include:

–Northbound SR-1 #1 (left lane) from Dover Drive/Bayshore Drive to Superior Avenue/Balboa Boulevard

–Southbound SR-1 #3 (right lane) from Bayside Drive to Jamboree Road

–Northbound SR-1 #2 and #3 (right lanes) from Dover Drive/Bayshore Drive to SR-55

–Southbound SR-1 #2 (right lane) from SR-55 to Dover Drive/Bayshore Drive

–Southbound SR-1 #2 and #3 (right lanes) from Superior Avenue/Balboa Boulevard to Dover Drive/Bayside Drive

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while this work is performed. Electronic changeable messages signs will notify drivers of the closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
