5k events to run or walk for adults, kids and families at Spirit Run

Spirit Run began 40 years ago as a fundraiser benefiting three schools, with a 5k and a kids’ dash. Forty years later, Spirit Run benefits multiple schools, youth sports programs, and other causes, with eight competitive races, two casual family events and a dog mile for human/dog duos. Spirit Run takes place on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17 at Fashion Island.

This week’s Spirit Run feature focuses on the 5k.

Some parents prefer to accompany their kids in the Youth 5k. Spirit Run allows parents and guardians to join their children. These parents must register for the Adult 5k, and to avoid interfering with other youngsters, must start in the back of the pack and catch up with their children later in the race. No other adults are permitted in the Youth 5k.
