50th Annual CDM Home Tour was a resounding success, with this year’s event raising an unprecedented record-breaking amount

The 50th Anniversary CDM Home Tour was a resounding success, breaking records across the board. This was due to the generous contributions from CDM families, the local community and many businesses who came together to make it one of the most significant events on the Newport Beach social calendar.

Despite the gusty winds, volunteers, guests, sponsors and boutique vendors persevered, and displayed remarkable enthusiasm throughout the day. The event commenced at the Newport Beach Civic Center where guests checked in and received a 50th Anniversary Swag Bag filled with goodies from local businesses. Fifty lucky Golden Ticket winners had the joy of claiming a special gift courtesy of Bliss Home & Design.

Newport Beach Mayor Will O’Neill opened the event with a proclamation, followed by student performances, while donuts, pastries and coffee were provided by Rose Bakery Cafe in CdM. A delicious lunch of grilled chicken salad and brownies was catered by Chef Pascal Olhats, who happened to be celebrating his birthday that day, along with Chef Annie Morgan, owner of Backstage A’fare.

Welcoming all guests and guiding them through the homes with efficiency and warmth took an army of volunteers. The homeowners’ generosity in allowing the guests to gain inspiration from their private spaces made it possible for guests to view unique styles, designs and flair, making it challenging to choose a favorite.

Although the day was filled with excitement and smiles, it is essential to remember that the primary goal of the event was to raise funds for CDM Middle and High School, and this year’s event raised an unprecedented record-breaking amount! The success of the event was a culmination of the contributions from the 1,600 guests, 60 sponsors, 38 boutique vendors, 15 underwriters and hundreds of local businesses, who advertised, donated items for the Opportunity Drawing, Auction and Swag Bags, sponsored the amazing After-Party, or offered their products and services to ensure a seamless and efficient event.

Gratitude goes to the dedicated teams at Presenting Sponsors Barclay Butera Interiors and VALIA Properties, who went above and beyond to make this event a success, and hosted one of the best After-Parties ever experienced on the Home Tour. Their commitment and passion towards the school’s fundraiser is invaluable and appreciated by the school, students and entire community.

Although 50 years have passed since the very first CDM Home Tour in 1974, where tickets were offered for a donation of just $3.50, the mission has remained the same – to raise money to support programs that are not funded by the school district. The funds raised will continue to support PTA programs at Corona del Mar Middle and High School, and plans are already underway for further campus improvements, support for academic programs, athletics and arts, parent programs and student wellness. A new initiative to create a Marching Band and Color Guard is already in progress, along with the many other student performers they look forward to seeing at future events.

According to CDM Home Tour Chair Gina Jaha, “The entire Home Tour team worked hard to make the 50th milestone extra special. We sincerely thank the homeowners, guests and sponsors for supporting such an important fundraising event for CDM Middle and High School. We hope you join us next year for another great Home Tour benefitting the kids.”
